This sauna facility is planned for a city where urban sophistication coexists with the nostalgic atmosphere of the old town. It aims to redefine the traditional image of saunas in Japan and elevate the act of bathing itself into a more luxurious and immersive experience. The facility comprises a public sauna, private saunas, a bar, and changing rooms. Through a dark, futuristic spatial design, it creates a world detached from everyday life.
Both the public and private areas were conceived as spaces imbued with deep tranquility and introspection. In the public sauna, the ceilings, walls, and floors are finished with wooden planks, and by weaving indirect lighting into this design, an impressive space is realized that combines originality, sensuality, and a sense of being in another world. The private sauna features a palette of coral pink and stone-textured tiles, creating an atmosphere that evokes both intimacy and glamour.
Furthermore, this project meticulously integrates the complex functions specific to sauna facilities—such as mechanical systems, plumbing, and HVAC—without compromising the beauty of the space. By achieving a high-level balance between an intense atmosphere and rigorous functionality, this project reinterprets the sauna as a sophisticated architectural space.
都会的な洗練と、旧市街のノスタルジックな空気が共存する街に計画されたサウナ施設である。日本における従来のサウナのイメージを刷新し、入浴という行為そのものを、よりラグジュアリーで没入感のある体験へと昇華することを目指した。施設はパブリックサウナ、プライベートサウナ、バー、脱衣室などで構成され、ダークで未来的な空間表現によって、日常から切り離された非日常の世界を創り出している。
パブリックエリアとプライベートエリアはいずれも、深い静けさと内省性を備えた空間として構想した。パブリックサウナでは、天井・壁・床を木板で仕上げ、その中に間接照明を織り込むことで、独創性と官能性、そして異世界感をあわせ持つ印象的な空間を実現している。プライベートサウナは、コーラルピンクと石調タイルを基調とし、親密さの中に華やかさを感じさせる設えとした。
また本計画では、機械設備、給排水、空調といったサウナ施設特有の複雑な機能を、空間の美しさを損なうことなく精緻に統合している。濃密な空気感と厳密な機能性を高い次元で両立させることで、サウナを洗練された建築空間として再解釈したプロジェクトである。
